Med City FC has made contract offers to four of its area players to return to the team for the 2019 season. The team will be participating in its third season in the National Premier Soccer League in 2019 and is looking forward to its best season yet. The local players offered new deals are Nate Levy, Tiernan Talbot, Ayo Adebayo and Alan Schembri Wismayer.
Nate Levy has played for Med City FC the past two summers. In 2018, Levy started in 12 of Med City FC’s 14 conference games, with a 1.00 goals against average. Levy is a product of Byron High School in Byron, Minnesota and played collegiately at St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota. Levy recently participated in the 2018 Midwest Pro Soccer Combine and was one of only six goalkeepers invited to participate in the event, which was attended by American professional teams from MLS and USL, as well as teams from Denmark, Germany, Greece and Albania.
Tiernan Talbot has also been with the Mayhem that past two seasons. He has appeared in more than half of Med City FC’s games during that time. Talbot was the youngest-ever player to be signed, as a senior at Rochester Lourdes High School back in 2017. Talbot was named all-conference for his play with Loras College for the 2018 season. He participated in the NPSL Showcase in December 2017, one of only 18 players from the entire NPSL Midwest Region to be selected.
Ayo Adebayo will be playing for Med City FC for a third season in 2019. The attacking player has appeared in nearly half of Med City FC’s games during its first two seasons, scoring one goal and adding three assists during his time on the field. Adebayo was a two-time all-state player at Rochester John Marshall High School, leading the team to the state tournament his senior year. Adebayo finished up his collegiate career at Wartburg College, where he was named all-conference in his final season with the team. Adebayo scored 20 goals and added 10 assists in his collegiate career.
Alan Schembri Wismayer is another graduate of Rochester Lourdes High School, where he helped lead his team to three conference titles and a state championship. He played collegiately at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he received first team all-conference and all-region honors during a college career that saw him play in 56 games and score eight goals to go along with 18 assists. Schembri Wismayer played for Swieqi United in the Maltese second division in 2017, and 2018 marked his first season with Med City FC, where he appeared in nine conference games, scoring a goal and adding two assists.
“We’re excited at the chance to have these four high-quality area players return to Med City FC for the 2019 season,” said Med City FC general manager Frank Spaeth. “Area players are an important part of our team and these young me represent some of the best players to come out of the Rochester area. We’re delighted to be able to offer them the chance to continue to work on their soccer careers in their own backyards.”
Med City FC plays soccer in the North Conference of the National Premier Soccer League’s Midwest Region. The Mayhem play the highest level of soccer available in the Rochester area and will compete in their third season in 2019. Tryouts for Med City FC will be held on Saturday, February 9.
