Med City FC and Minnesota Rush are pleased to announce that they have formed a strategic alliance that will provide numerous benefits to both organizations for the 2019 season and into the future. The new alliance opens expanded avenues to collaboration and the sharing of resources between the two organizations with the common goal to expand on their missions to provide the best soccer experiences in Rochester.
“Minnesota Rush (formerly Rochester Youth Soccer Association) has been a great supporter of ours since we kicked off back in 2017,” says Med City FC general manager Frank Spaeth. “It makes sense for us to strengthen our ties with the area’s largest youth soccer association and to work together to grow the sport in Rochester.”
Med City FC, which will be playing its third season in the National Premier Soccer League in 2019, plans to have its players more involved with the Minnesota Rush teams on an individual basis. This includes sending players out to rec team practices to play with and help coach the youth for a practice, as well as helping at the Minnesota Rush annual tournament.
In addition, the two organizations are working on developing a player pathway that can take Minnesota Rush’s elite players from youth soccer and ultimately help them get into professional soccer. Minnesota Rush sees Med City FC as a great community step in that pathway and the two organizations will be working on ways to incorporate Minnesota Rush players on to Med City FC as they age out of youth soccer.
“We’ve done a lot of great things our first two seasons in existence,” says Spaeth. “The value we’ve brought to the soccer community and the community-at-large has been a vital part of that. This new alliance allows us to continue to tap into the soccer community in Rochester, while also adding depth to that relationship.” Spaeth acknowledges that the Med City FC players have become role models in the community and he sees the additional opportunities to work with the Minnesota Rush youth teams as a way to build and strengthen those community relationships and create loyal fans for years to come.
“Forming a strategic alliance with Med City FC is the right move at the right time for Minnesota Rush. This alliance will provide both parties opportunities to grow soccer in the area,” says Minnesota Rush Executive Director Kevin Lowery. “We are excited for this opportunity!”
According to Spaeth, Med City FC will continue relationships with other youth clubs throughout the area. “We still want to work with all the clubs in the area and we still plan on offering them special opportunities to partner with us,” he says. “This strategic alliance with Minnesota Rush simply allows us to build deeper connections with them and all that their new affiliation with internationally-renowned Rush Soccer has to offer.”
Med City FC will kick off its 2019 season with a non-conference game against Granite City FC on Saturday, May 11 at 7 PM at Rochester Community and Technical College.
